Top 11 things to do with lego in 1975 ish

Top 11 things to do with lego in 1975 ish as a kid

1) use blocks to look like the logo on the box

There is no end to lego...an omen for afols

2 take large red spoke wheels put on a green baseplate as a car

3 tow the blue car around living room (and untangle the string)

4 substitute the biplane yellow struts with minifigure heads and figure out why they are thin vs. fat

5 use hinge bricks and wind strings up and down

6 build and use forklift to launch bricks by using spring action of the forklift

7 put every black 2x2 with wheels on to a 2x8 beam and make it a catepillar or a massive truck

8 stack the blocks as high as possible

9 losing small pieces in shaggy carpet of 70s

10 trying to fit legos neatly back into the nifty comparments

11 perseverate on why you need and could build better with a motor

Ahh the good old days!  Actually launching bricks from the forklifts spring action never gets old.

If i could go back in time

I wish I could go back in time and buy the following pieces

There are multiple elements but I would focus on the bigger wheels as in the mobile rocket launchers and 744 universal building sets.

Getting rid of old drawer cabinets

Today my wife helped me to get drawer cabinets out while I sat and told her which ones I didn't need.

Ultimately I planned a huge lego room with neatly organized cabinets but 2 floods got water on the cabinets and they rusted.  Some of the plastic drawers have a powder/metal residue present so I cannot wash them as I had in 2020.  I'm to the point where I really need bigger containers vs hundreds of drawers and I can't stand long enough to sort or get into the highest cabinets

So now I'm still getting sad as I had fun collecting the cabinets in the past 2008 to 2020 but now it's over...but hopefully good times//better building will happen..we'll see.

I plan to try organizing more when wife helps move stuff!

Hoarding/unorganized vs. Collecting and organized

When does collecting become hoarding?

I Have to say that I don't know...although I'm not a completely a hoarder...just collecting a lot and unable to organize due to unforseen circumstances.

This week Ì had 2 people help me start cleaning my lego room.  I pointed out what was trash and what was donate.

In the past, I had so many plans to make a cool diorama with using slot car track for roads...Lionel train tracks for trains until I got real lego track...etc...

Now I'm unable to set this up so I pitched the track. Instead, now  I want to use pure legos for a diorama instead.  The problem is that I planned to sort the legos but now I'm stuck with containers that look like bulk lego.  I cannot get to sort the multiple containers.

Here's my dilemma in pics.  Before and below is a pic of containers on floor and random sorted legos.

Above empty sterilite and other huge unsorted lego

After 3 hours my family helped clean up this mess in pic above since I cannot help lift.

Now I can get help to get things on higher shelves easier.

Sometimes I'm happy with all my legos but at other times I'm unsure if it is hoarding...!

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has experienced the same issue of trouble getting a hold on a lot of unsorted lego and empty containers/full containers.
