My amazing lego hack

I cannot fix anything.  I am not allowed  to have power tools!!  But by using duct tape and knockoff blocks (maybe I'm a snob but name brand legos are too good for this job), I created the greatest fix

We have a pull out drawer for our kitchen trashcan.  The wastebasket cracked. We looked everywhere for a replacement but every basket was too long/tall.  We found a close size but it was about an inch too tall and the bottom caught on the ledge.

Bottom of wastebasket was too tall to close.

Here was my fix

Ledge of trashcan was elevated so the bottom cleared the cabinet.

Shear genius...what a once in a lifetime experience!!!

Replicating the Eiffel tower in Lego

I love the Eiffel Tower and seeing is made out of Lego

I think the trick of building the tower is getting the base legs straight with inner connecting arches and  proportional to the top length of the straight vertical portion

The 2 pics above are from Las Vegas and the 3rd infogram from google images

The large lego tower did this great as a set

I think that the straight beams going up from the 4 corners in contrast. To the connecting round arches between the 4 towers are hard to do with square blocks!

Here's more great pics of mocs people have done...

I cannot find who did this on the internet but I think it is genius using smaller more detailed pieces in ways that I would never have thought of.

I like this build also for the intricate detail (pic above)
Yet another way to build the base of the tower (above pic)

Again, love the intricate detail is fantastic

Above 3 bricks are great pics of set 21019

Another group of 3 pics above from great designers!

The towers below nearly if not identical versions...
Unsure if book author of brick city book is different from creator of the tower featured

The gray small structure at the bottom corner of the last picture of the 3 above is positioned different from the middle picture between the two red brick city book pics.
Also the red cover versions have a small blue piece in front of the red bus and white car at the base

The 5 pics below are good renditions of the tower...they are from pinterest or google images
Love the details of the arch portion between the corner bases above

I like the use of simple elements above.  Up close it's rough to look at but in the distance it appears more complex

More detail from Sean Kenney above.  The guy is a master!

I like the darker color and the column use at the base

From pinterest above pic, minifig scale, unbelievable!

Finally, there is more from lego and legoland!

So it's amazing how much variation and construction techniques come from replicating 1 structure!
