I bought the Newsweek magazine about lego (June 2024..pgs 94 and 95). This edition showed multiple pics from two sets: lego airport and a hamburger stand. These sets show manners that have either eroded or that I may have just assumed were a given.
4 things in particular come to mind.
1)smoothly going through airport security without much hassle and assuming you were reasonbly safe
Now in 2024 We have much more security needs just to get to gates.
2) Holding doors (below)
Now in 2024 (from reddit)
"The etiquette of holding open public doors is unnecessary"
3)(below) police presence for safety...this never happened at my school til 1989
Now in 2024: Police presence is essentially a given and needed in schools and public areas
4) (Below) People getting good service and workers connected to customers. Customers were happy with the goods received and treated servers and staff with respect...
Now in 2024...from an ice cream store when mask guidelines varied. The owner put up a sign "Stop slamming doors. Stop swearing at them and making a scene. STOP!!!" (Mootown Creamery Berea, Ohio wrote on Facebook.) "These girls are wearing masks for YOUR protection. They are required by the state to wear them, and they do so with a smile because they care about you and your safety."
For these 4 reasons I wish I was back I'm the 80s!
