Weekend at the Hilton

 I was greeted at the Hilton this weekend by this:

Then I was able to get to the Lego store where I got to do pick a brick which let's you do boxes now vs. cups except that they're smaller than the cups.

I then got to Macy's toys r us where there was polybag sales-3.99 each. (Toys R Us store in Macy's)

Trying brickbuddy and gobricks from Amazon "flat silver 315"

 Ive placed 2 orders for flat silver "315" color (non-Lego from gobricks sold on amazon as brickbuddy) and am excited to use these for building the x1 patrolcraft (...the brackets sold only came in light gray but did match the lego light gray color)..from the 80s.  These are the pieces I have bought so far...

Now I'm waiting for my next order!

The first order had brackets that fit perfect for making the side engines and missiles from the x-1 patrol craft.  The clutch power and evenness of color is fantastic.  The only drawback is the time needed to ship/clear customs.  I do feel guilty betraying Lego, but the flat silver is a neat effect for spaceships.

1) space tile with classic space motif                          

 I like the flashback to the classic space logo

2) VARIOUS BRACKETS BELOW

 

       

 I never had seen the brackets above until the creation of Mixels, they are very versatile, esp with 1 horizontal and 2/3 height

3) o2 TANKS AND CAMERA

                         

I Love the 2 pieces above (camera and 02 tanks above) from classic space motif, i.e. the mobile rocket transporter has both of the above in the man on the ground below

4) AND 5) BELOW-BRICK WITH 8 KNOBS AND ROAD PLATE

I like the versatility of the 1x2x1 with 8 knobs due to flexibility (upper left corner-I haven't come up with a use yet!

 and the bottom right picture of the square part for making road plates made for insertable tiles

6) STRING BASS

Love the string bass-in a way, the center piece of the jazz club set

7) Cool type of fenders (vs. old school!)

 \I want more of the eyebrow types then the mudguard full arch type.  I have a ton of the type where the fender extends to the mid wheel height but they aren't good for sports cars.

8) VERT KNOB BRICK

I don't know why but this is a newer brick I don't have many of yet.  It looks like it could make a good fence post with 2 tubes coming off of it.  (Motor bricks used as the middle posts)

9) SILVER OR GOLD IGNOT

Love

the idea of using this piece for "money" gold bars or speedbumps! (or greebling)

I read that the above piece is helpful for reducing clutch power as in when wanting to make a structure that can be pulled apart for play or tranport

I would like to hear others favorite type bricks and whether there are uses for the pieces above that I haven't mentioned!!
